| What is Kohl's American Cup? It is US Youth Soccer's premier recreational tournament. But it's more than a tournament. It is an event.
The Missouri Kohl's American Cup will be divided into two different competitions: U6-U8 teams will play a festival format on Saturday, May 19 only. Each team will play three games spaced out over the day. Every player will receive a participation medal at our Olympic style medal stand. Every player will receive a Kohl's Cup gift bag. And between games, every player will be able to visit the Kohl's American Cup activity area, where games like the Kohl's Kick Wall and Airheads Summer Fun Zone await. U9-U19 teams will play a championship format two-day tournament on Saturday, May 19 - Sunday, May 20. Each team is guaranteed 3 games. First and second place medals (gold and silver) will be awarded to champions and runners up, with bronze participation medals going to every other player. And, like the younger players, older players will receive the gift bags, and visit the activity area. |
How do I register? Columbia Soccer Club teams should register online here.
Individual players whose team will not be playing in the Cup should register online here. Since this is a state-wide tournament, teams from outside Columbia will register either by mail or through the MYSA website. However, the Club is asking that you register through our tournament committee for a couple of important reasons: 1) Player Cards and Rosters. As an official MYSA sponsored tournament, teams are required to provide official MYSA rosters and player cards in order to play. By registering through the club, we will be able to more easily help you with the cards. In fact, we are setting aside the morning of May 12 to help our teams with cards and rosters. Details to come. 2) Cost. The Club has decided to help with tournament costs by capping the amount any of our players would pay at $10. Any extra cost, for cards, extra jerseys, or tournament fees, will be picked up by the Club. The only way to keep track of those costs is to have teams and individuals register through the Club. |
What Next? Detailed information regarding registration steps will be sent out over the next few days. And this site will be updated frequently, so please check back often.
Here's what we ask coaches to do first. 1) Talk about Kohl's American Cup with your team. Find out how many people can play. If you have enough to make a team, great. If you do not have enough, ensure those individuals who want to play that we will place them on another team. 2) Register your team online using the links provided above. If you are not going to be able to enter a team but have individual players interested in the Cup, please ask them to register online, as well. Registration deadline (for teams and players) is Midnight, Sunday, May 6. 3) Teams and/or players who register online will receive detailed instructions via email. Follow the instructions and you'll be good to go. |
