Columbia Soccer Club Financial Aid

Financial Aid Information

Purpose of scholarship opportunities
To allow youth players from both the Recreational and Competitive sides of the soccer club to participate regardless of their financial situation.

Procedure for obtaining scholarship
Those interested in obtaining a financial scholarship must apply by completing a Columbia Soccer Club Financial Aid Request Form. This form requests the applicant to provide their household income and number of family members. In addition to the request form, a letter or other financial document indicating that the player is eligible for financial aid or the free or reduced school lunch program. Those applying for a financial scholarship may request a “full” or “partial” scholarship. Scholarship applications need to be completed for each season played, except those applying for the Recreation Program, which will be completed when registering for the fall season. All applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee composed of no less than three members. The members of this committee will consist of both Columbia Soccer Club board members and parents.

Recreational soccer program
All recreational players found to be eligible for aid will be granted a scholarship without any further obligation to the Columbia Soccer Club. There will be no limit on the number of financial scholarship awarded to recreational players. A Financial Aid Request Form will need to be filled out and accompanied by a letter indicating the player is eligible for the free or reduced school lunch program or other documentation indicating a need for financial assistance such as unemployment benefits, public assistance, or a copy of last year's filed Federal Income Tax Statement. Recreation scholarship players will have no further club obligations to fulfill for scholarship. Even though no eligible scholarship recipient will be denied, each application will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Competitive (Pride) soccer program
There will be no limit on the number of financial scholarships awarded to competitive players, as long as they meet eligibility. Those players applying for scholarships will complete a Financial Aid Request Form, to be accompanied by a letter from their school or district indicating the player is eligible for the free or reduced school lunch program, or other documentation indicating a need for financial assistance such as unemployment benefits, public assistance, or a copy of last year's filed Federal Income Tax Statement. Those obtaining financial scholarships for competitive teams have obligations to fulfill to the club during each season played on scholarship.
The applicant will need to indicate on the application if they are applying for a partial or full scholarship.

Partial scholarship
Partial scholarship is defined as financial assistance of $150.00 per season and not to exceed $300.00 per calendar year.

Full scholarship
Full scholarship is defined as financial assistance of $350.00 per season and not to exceed $700.00 per calendar year.

Scholarship recipients obligation to club
Competitive players receiving scholarships are required to work extra bingo spots or a pre-approved alternative.
Recipients of a full scholarship are required to work two extra bingos per year. One extra bingo is to be completed during each season played on scholarship.
Even though bingo is preferred for completion of obligation for scholarship, alternatives can be entertained by the Scholarship Committee at the time of application review.

Proof of completion of scholarship obligation
It is the responsibility of the scholarship recipient to provide proof of completion of the bingo obligation. This can be accomplished by obtaining copies of the bingo workers attendance sheet for all six/five bingos worked for a full/partial scholarship and turned into the Scholarship Committee. For pre-approved alternative, the recipient is to turn into the Scholarship Committee some form of signed documentation. Failure to complete the scholarship obligation will result in the withholding of any further scholarships to the recipient and the player's card of the recipient will be pulled until all commitments are fulfilled.

Please read carefully and submit application along with supporting documentation by the due date to be considered. Applications received without supporting documentation will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed by the committee.
